Sijilna is built in the UAE for UAE businesses first. Many UAE businesses also trade with Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the Gulf. This page sets out plainly what Sijilna does for cross-border trade today, and what it does not do yet.
What works today
Your books are kept in UAE dirhams, and you can invoice, buy and get paid in other currencies, with exchange gains and losses calculated for you. Every document can be printed in Arabic and English. Exports are recorded with the right UAE VAT treatment, so they land in the correct box of your VAT 201 return.
For landlords, each lease records its registration authority, number and date, whether that is Ejari in Dubai, Tawtheeq in Abu Dhabi or Ejar in Saudi Arabia.
Each GCC country has its own tax system
VAT rules differ across the Gulf. Saudi Arabia charges VAT at 15% and runs its own e-invoicing system, FATOORA, operated by ZATCA. Oman charges VAT at a basic rate of 5% under its Tax Authority. Each country has its own registration, returns and invoice requirements.
Sijilna does not file returns outside the UAE today and is not connected to FATOORA or other GCC tax systems. VAT return layouts for Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain are on our roadmap; we will say so on this page when they are available.
Who Sijilna fits today
A UAE-registered business that sells to, buys from or has customers in other GCC countries. If your main company is registered for VAT in Saudi Arabia or another GCC country, Sijilna is not yet the right tool for that company's returns. Contact us and we will tell you honestly.
Questions and answers
Can Sijilna file my Saudi VAT return or connect to FATOORA?
No, not today. Sijilna is UAE-first. Saudi, Omani and Bahraini VAT return layouts are planned but not available yet.
Can I invoice a Saudi customer in riyals?
Yes. Invoices and payments can be in other currencies, while your books stay in UAE dirhams with exchange differences recorded automatically.
Is Sijilna available in Arabic?
Yes. The whole app and every printed document work in Arabic and English.
